Papa's Store

Hi everyone! It's Ashley here. Brent's out town, so last week the kids and I stayed up at my parent's house for the week. While we were there we went to this new icecream place next to where Carmacks was. After eating our icecream, grandma took the grandkids to see where grandpa used to make ALL those delicious donuts. I wish the kids could have the same memories that I grew up with. But I guess having memories of going up to Eaglewood is fun too. I just had to take these pictures. I thought it was too cute- all those little faces looking into the windows, listening to grandma tell about papa's store. Where oil, glaze, and donuts once resided, is now home to rows and rows of diamonds and Lladros. Who'd of thought?! I know grandma Carmack sure didn't!

Christmas 2006

Now I am sure you are thinking was is wrong with this woman putting Christmas pictures on her blog at this time of year. Well, I was looking through some of my pictures and came across the pictures for Christmas 2006 and decided I would post them. It seems like it is taking me a while to catch on to this blogging thing but I am trying to get with it as you will see. I have learned that when you take pictures that is the time to post them. The thing I think is fun about these pictures is to see how much all of the children have changed.
The first part of December we went down to spend some time with Darin and Julee and their family because Bailee performing in the Nutcracker and to have an early Christmas with them. Bailee was one of the party girls in the Nutcracker which I think if I was her age the most sought after part to be in. She looked so cute and is such a good dancer. We really look forward to going down to see them and of course it isn't as often as we would like but they are so busy with their family, church and work and now gas is so expensive. And as always, it was really fun to spend time with our beautiful McKenzi.
On Saturday morning Darin and Julee took us to a Christmas breakfast with Santa that their ward had. It was really fun and the food was delicious. They had the cutest and best Santa I have ever seen. I just couldn't take my eyes off of him.The Christmas Tree!!!
The rest of these pictures are all with Santa Claus who just happened to walk in our front door. All of the children were so excited and he brought everyone a surpise.

We love new babies!!!

Tiffany and Mindy now both know what their babies are going to be. Yeah!! Tiffany is having a boy which is due the end of October. Mindy went yesterday for her ultrasound and she is having a girl and we are all very excited. She said they will be naming her Brinley. She is due on February 5th. Both Tiffany and Mindy are really happy about the sex of their babies. Tiffany hoped for a boy and Mindy hoped for a girl. And I am happy because I started crocheting a baby dress long before either of them were expecting and I was afraid the dress would have to wait for another baby sometime in the future.

A new church calling for Darin

On July 27, 2008 Darin was sustained as second counselor in his ward. It was a thrill and pay day for a mother to be there and sustain her son in this calling. Julee's parents were also there and we had a great visit with them as always. Both Julee and Darin were called on to speak for a few minutes in Sacrament meeting and they did awesome. Darin spoke from his heart and among other things said that receiving the calling was short of a miracle for him. He is so strong in his beliefs and bore testimony to the fact that he knew without a shadow of a doubt that Jesus was the Christ. He is a great example to us and our family. We love you Darin and wish you the best in this calling.

TJ's Girl

I thought it was about time to introduce Betsy, TJ's girl, to everyone. For the last three years they have been in the same class at Tufts University in Boston where they are studying to become dentists. Obviously it was here they met and became good friends. She is from Columbus, Ohio where her family still lives.

A tribute to my mother, Margaret Clark Bartley Tadje

Mother, I sure miss you.
She died on April 12, 2008 at 93 years of age. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. She the second of seven children. On November 5, 1933 she married our father. They had four children, Beverlee, Clark, Tami and Susan. Daddy died on January 23, 1954 from a cancerous brain tumor. Susan was born 2 monts after Daddy died. Mother moved her family to Idaho to be close to her sister and her family. She eventually moved to Utah. When she first moved to Utah she went to work for large insurance company as the executive secretary. In 2002 she moved to an assisted living facility. When her health deteriated she was moved to Orchard Cove where she was living at the time of her death.

She was a skilled homemaker, loving mother, and wife. She was an excellent cook, seamstress and sewed many beautiful clothes for herself and her daughters. She also loved to knit and do needle point. She made her world more beautiful through her love of gardening and her natural talent for interior design. She had a wonderful sense of humor that touched all of our lives. We will really miss her.

Pictures from Mother's funeral.

I think this is my favorite picture of all. The pallbears were most of her grandsons and a son-in-law. She is entombed in Salt Lake City, Utah. For those of you who look at this blog and weren't able to attend her funeral I hope you enjoy these pictures.
